Part of the stated goals of the Globe Derby Society is to preserve other lines which help maintain the genetic diversity of the Standardbred. It is of no surprise that more than 80 per cent of the winners sired by Lordship, New Zealand's last great Globe Derby sire, were from non-Abbedale lines, the predominant line in America today. Indeed two of those lines are hanging on by a thread only in Australia and New Zealand. Between the two countries we still have pacing male representatives of the five sons of Hambletonian, although both have only four in total. Both countries have Globe Derby but New Zealand is the only place where there is currently a pacing Axworthy line stallion, while Australia has several Direct line stallions, most through sons of Classic Garry athough the last Tar Heel line stallion on earth is also there. We will be creating pages on these alternative lines, which match so well to Globe Derby, as material becomes available.
